This engaging and thought-provoking series of lessons has been devised to provide students with a well-rounded, secure understanding of Katherine Rundell’s 'Rooftoppers.’ Ten resource sets are included, each of which will take approximately 2-3 lessons to deliver. Chapters 1-3 Chapters 4-6 Chapters 7-9 Chapters 10-12 Chapters 13-15 Chapters 16-18 Chapters 19-21 Chapters 22-25 Chapters 26-28 Chapters 29-31 The comprehensive and colourful PowerPoint presentations guide students through a wide range of activities, including those designed to enhance the following skills: retrieval, understanding vocabulary, inference, explanation, summarising, sequencing, analysis and deeper thinking activities. Additional worksheets and templates are also provided where needed for some of the creative tasks. All of the resources and tried and tested in real classrooms, catalysing excellent outcomes. The resources are suitable for students across KS2 (I originally used them with year 5 and 6 classes).

These whole class reading session aims to develop children’s fluency and comprehension skills whilst reading engaging and informative texts related to ‘The Renaissance.’ Included in the bundle are three complete whole class reading resource packs, with everything that you need to teach the whole class reading lessons on: -The Renaissance Period (non-fiction text); -The Mona Lisa (original information text); -Romeo and Juliet (Andrew Matthews/ Tony Ross adaptation). All of the extracts/ readings that are needed for the lessons are provided (in both Word and PDF), as are the step-by-step Powerpoints containing all of the activities. These aim to develop children’s VIPERS skills: vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval, sequencing and summarising. Each lesson also contains a vocabulary check immediately after the extract is read to clarify any unfamiliar/ difficult language. The tasks are comprised of quick-check questions, solo thinking, pair/ group discussions and deeper thinking activities. The sessions are best suited for children across KS2 - they have been tried and tested with children in years 4 to 6. Hope that you find them useful!

This bundle contains a series of 3 completely original, engaging and thought-provoking collective worship sessions aiming to build children’s understanding of St. Peter. Each session focuses on a different aspect of Peter’s life: Jesus Calls Peter The Denial of Peter The Restoration of Peter Each worship session follows a colourful and comprehensive PowerPoint presentation which guide the worship leader and the children through the worship journey, including opportunities for recall, engagement with scripture, drama-based activities (session 2 contains an original script), videos (hyperlinked), hymns and prayer. Towards the end of each session, children are encouraged to reflect on their own personal spirituality, in response to deep and relevant discussion questions. This worship sessions are tried and tested, and have always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. If everything is kept in each session, they take around 30 minutes each to deliver, but you may choose to edit or amend some elements of the session. No further resources are required - everything that you need to present the sessions is included!

This engaging and thought-provoking set of resources aid students in developing a secure understanding of chapters 5 to 7 of Roald Dahl’s ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine.’ The chapters covered in these lessons are ‘The Cook-up’, ‘Brown Paint’ and ‘Grandma Gets the Medicine.’ The lessons are guided by a comprehensive and colourful PowerPoint presentation, and enables students to understand the text through: -Retrieving information; -Inferring hidden meanings; -Summarising information. The sessions include a range of retrieval, vocabulary, inference, explanation and deeper thinking activities. A clear, colourful and comprehensive PowerPoint presentation guides students through the learning. A useful template is also provided for the creative storyboarding activity (in both Word and PDF). There’s a lot in the session (20 slides in total) so I would recommend breaking into two or even three lessons. The lessons are most suitable for children in upper key stage 1 or lower key stage 2, (they have been used in the past with children in years 2 and 3) but they could also be adapted for slightly older and younger year groups.
